Sheila’s Seven Blocks
By Stephen Proskauer MD | January 7, 2010
Sheila, an unemployed nurse who had just lost her lover, was experiencing strong feelings of betrayal and abandonment. She was the younger of two daughters, the self-designated caretaker in a dysfunctional family dominated by an autocratic father. Two days before coming in for therapy, Sheila had awakened in a rage. This alarmed her because she had always been uncomfortable having angry feelings. During her initial session, seven blocks emerged one after another for release. First solar plexus tension, then headache, then backache, then bellyache, then leg tension, etc. As each blocked area releases, the next is revealed.
