As Sheila’s Rage Releases, Fear of Loss Comes Next

Then Sheila said she felt sick all over: “I’m sick of what I gave up for you. I’m sick of your whining and headaches and excuses. I performed for you, so you wouldn’t feel like a failure. I’m sick of your weakness! I don’t have to be a nurse if I don’t want to be, the way you want me to be. You don’t understand me or my work. Just because you grew up without money for things, it’s not the same now.” At this point Sheila suddenly became aware of her fear of being abandoned: “I’m afraid if I tell the truth, people will leave me; they won’t love me.”
