Sheila’s Seventh Block: Fear of Being Happy
By Stephen Proskauer MD | January 25, 2010
The seventh block arose as a pain in her crotch: “I’m scared to be happy and healthy. People won’t be there for me if I am okay. If I am strong and healthy, people will just use me up to meet their needs.”
Sheila took a deep breath and her whole body relaxed. She said: “It’s okay to say if you are in pain. I need someone to love me and hold me. I just want someone to be there for me. I deserve to be loved, to be happy. It’s okay to be happy.” The session ended on this positive note. Sheila felt much better and decided that she didn’t need to start taking the antidepressant medication prescribed by her doctor.
