Karmic Vows While Dying
By Stephen Proskauer MD | May 3, 2010
Death is the ultimate opportunity for transforming and releasing
anguish and terror. As with birth, each physical sensation
in the dying process may be associated with specific
words and emotions, either felt by the dying person or picked up
from the feelings of nearby witnesses to the death. If we know we are
dying, what has been most important in our lives may come vividly
into consciousness along with awareness of mistakes and regrets. Illusions
unquestioned for a lifetime can dissolve in a few moments when
we anticipate extinction of the life we have known and face the passage
into the unknown. Our decisions and vows made at the time of
death carry great karmic significance.
